Congratulations to Spectrum’s incredible Nursing Times finalists, who won an amazing three Awards at the November ceremony – the first triple success in our history!

Rising Star

Getting the evening off to a fantastic start, nurse Lyndsey scooped the ‘Rising Star’ award for the impact she has made in HMP Preston and her fantastic efforts in developing the prison’s first Haemodialysis provision. This project has significant scope to expand and has been praised by prison partners and our Health and Justice commissioners within NHS England. Well done Lyndsey!

Managing Long-Term Conditions

Our healthcare team in HMP Preston also scored a victory in the “Managing Long-Term Conditions” category, this time for the group effort behind the Haemodialysis project and for the impact the new provision will have on improving access to care. This award recognises nurses, leaders and support staff in the healthcare team. A great achievement!

Florence Nightingale Nurse of the Year

In our third success of the evening, Advanced Nurse Practitioner Helen was named the “Florence Nightingale Nurse of the Year” for her work across our North West prisons. Helen was commended for supporting patients with complex needs and for previously co-delivering the Pain Management pilot in HMP Lancaster Farms. Judges said that Helen’s work as an ANP helped to support vulnerable patients and tackle health inequalities experienced by offenders. Congratulations, Helen!

Recognition for Spectrum

We’d also like to congratulate our fantastic team in North Yorkshire Horizons, who were deserving finalists for “Team of the Year” last night. Although we didn’t win the Award, it’s still an incredible achievement to be shortlisted – particularly in 2020 which has been such a challenging year for nursing.

A triple success at the Nursing Times Awards is so important for Spectrum because it builds on the work we have done to increase our profile as a healthcare provider, particularly in showcasing our expertise in offender healthcare. In recent years, we have had several Nursing Times finalists including Stella Hannaway, Nurse Leader of the Year in 2019.

Take a look at our previous Awards history here.

Well done to all our winners and finalists (past and present) on this amazing achievement. You can see the full list of 2020 winners on the Nursing Times website.
