Spectrum’s Kim crowned “Nurse Manager of the Year”!

Congratulations to Kim Hogg, Acting Head of Healthcare in HMP Low Newton, who was named “Nurse Manager of the Year” at the Nursing Times Workforce Awards last night!

Kim won this Award for her excellent work in improving care for women during her career at HMP Low Newton, where she has worked since the mid-2000s.

In that time, Kim has introduced innovative initiatives for patients which have been replicated nationally in Health and Justice – including the first prison-based colposcopy suite and a bespoke midwifery service aiming to improve quality of care for pregnant women in custody.

Kim was also joined in the “Nurse Manager” shortlist by our fantastic Sue Thornley, Head of Healthcare in HMP Kirkham, who beat stiff competition to reach the final stages of the Awards.

Sue was nominated for her inspirational leadership and work in reducing health inequalities faced by offenders, driving forward a holistic approach to care and supporting our wider Kirkham team. Supporting her nomination, the Governor of HMP Kirkham said “I feel privileged and proud to have Sue working at HMP Kirkham with her fantastic healthcare team.”

Congratulations to two incredible nurse leaders!
