Spectrum ranks 22nd in The Employee Ownership Top 50 of 2022

Spectrum has climbed the rankings in ‘The Employee Ownership Top 50’ for 2022, securing a number 22 spot in the list of UK’s largest employee-owned companies.

It is an impressive increase on last year’s ranking of 31st largest, and a jump of 11 spots since the pandemic began in 2020.

Dr Linda Harris OBE, Spectrum’s Chief Executive, said, “I am delighted to report that Spectrum has risen to the ranking of 22 in the Top 50 Employee-Owned Businesses, as recognised by the Employee Owners Association (EOA). Whilst we no longer offer a direct staff personal shareholding, through the tireless work of our Spectrum Staff Council we continue to evidence how, as an employee led social enterprise, empowering our staff, through a stake and a say, can ensure that we continuously shine a light on staff accomplishments.

Spectrum continue to adopt the principles of the employee ownership movement, recognising the numerous benefits for employees and for the business as a whole, with evidence showing employee-owned businesses are more productive and more resilient. They are also rooted in their local places and regions, and are committed to securing good quality jobs for the longer term within communities they serve.”

Friday 24th of June was the 10th annual EO Day, where thousands of employee owners, EO businesses and supporters of employee ownership came together to raises awareness of the benefits of employee ownership.

EO Day is a national celebration and the chance to raise awareness of the positive impact the sector has on the UK economy; the past three years has seen a 50% growth in the employee ownership sector.

This year’s theme for EO Day was #GrowEO.
