Spectrum hosts national NMP Forum

Spectrum hosted the National Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescribing Forum in Wakefield in July. Nurses from Spectrum’s Alcohol Liaison Service (based in Wakefield) led the regional meeting for Non-Medical Prescribers (NMPs), which focused on learning and development and sharing good practice. NMP’s from across the North of England learnt more about Alcohol Liaison Services and their role managing substance misuse in hospitals. The forum also discussed the assessment and treatment of alcohol-related conditions, improving health outcomes in key patient populations and challenges of safer prescribing in acute settings. Guests also had a chance to hear from visiting substance misuse specialists and researchers from York Teaching Hospitals, Forward Leeds and the University of Manchester. Spectrum is looking to host more events like this, bringing a much needed focus to the North of England.
