Spectrum charity launches the new ReCycle project

The Spectrum People Bike Project was reborn as ReCycle on 23 September, relaunching under a new name to mark fantastic success since the project began.

Spectrum’s Chief Executive, Linda Harris, joined charity Trustee Steven Michael and a host of staff, service users and volunteers to officially launch the new project at Reflections housing association, Castleford.

Linda and Bridget presented several ReCycle volunteers with their official Velotech awards in Bike Skills – so far, seven service users have achieved the Gold award and a further six have received the Blue award. All service users who successfully complete the course can become volunteers and will help run the programme, and plans are also underway to open the project to the public for basic repairs such as punctures, brake testing, and chain refits.

Spectrum People would like to thank their partners in West Yorkshire Police and at the Bradford based charity On-Trak, which has donated 60 bikes to ReCycle for our service users to rebuild.

The fantastic progress we have made would not have been possible without other sponsors, including the Better Communities Fund and Creative Minds.
