Spectrum Celebrating International Nurses Day

At 16 years old Karen knew what she wanted to be when she grew up. Today she is a Senior Nurse Practitioner at Spectrum Community Health.

Today is International Nurses Day (taking place on Florence Nightingale’s birthday – 12th May) and an opportunity for everyone to acknowledge the fantastic work that is done by these dedicated health professionals.

Karen is just one of a number of nurses from Spectrum, who work in partnership across the region to improve the health and wellbeing for substance misusers; providing healthcare within secure environments and also offering contraception and sexual health care to people throughout the district.

Karen says, “I have wanted to be a nurse since I was 16 and have enjoyed more than 35 years in the profession. I work with vulnerable adults in some of the most difficult of circumstances and settings but I have never looked back and absolutely love what I do. I am surrounded by teams of nurses whose approaches are making a real difference. I feel really proud to be in a position to celebrate our roles and our work through International Nurses Day.”
