Where to get Emergency contraception

EHC Scheme

The Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) Scheme is a partnership between some pharmacies in Wakefield and Barnsley to deliver free EHC to women aged up to 25 years.

If you are in need of EHC and would like to get it from one of the pharmacies listed below, please call the pharmacy in advance to ensure that the named pharmacist – who is eligible to give out EHC – is available.

You can also drop-in to any of our clinics for EHC. Find your nearest clinic here.

If you have had unprotected sex there is also a risk you could have a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) and so please contact our clinics as soon as possible. If you are unable to call us during working hours and if you can’t wait, please dial 111 for immediate help and advice with any sexual health concern.  

REMEMBER: Condoms are the only contraception method to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Condoms can protect you from STI’s such as syphilis and gonorrhoea, both of which have increased in the last couple of years.
