Merry SeXmas!

Christmas festivities and mistletoe may get you rocking around the Christmas tree – but remember that alcohol can cloud your judgement when it comes to safe sex. So, if you’re cosying up to potential sexual partners this festive season, be wary that some gifts aren’t worth receiving!

Remember to check out the Government’s COVID guidance and ensure you stay safe.

Here’s our top tips for staying sexually safe this Christmas…

Don’t sack off protection this Christmas – Protect yourself and others against sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unwanted pregnancies – use a condom. They are the only contraception method that reduces the risk of STIs, when used correctly during sex.

Have some ‘Elf control! – Be the boss of your own wellbeing by sticking to recommended guidelines of 14 units of alcohol per week. Increased consumption can reduce your inhibitions, which may lead to rash decision-making – e.g. having unprotected sex. Remember to drink responsibly this festive season.

Fill your stockings this Christmas – Stocking up on contraception to last you the Christmas period? Remember to think ahead and ensure you have enough condoms and contraceptive pills to last you the entire festive period. Condoms are free for 16-25s via our C-Card Scheme.

Look after each other this Christmas – Over recent months, drink spiking has hit local and national news, so it’s vital that we all look after one another when we’re out. Stay in groups/pairs, don’t accept drinks from strangers and never leave your drinks unattended.

Sleigh STIs – Be sure to sleigh those STIs and call one of our clinics for testing and treatment, if you’re worried about a recent sexual encounter this festive season.

Festive opening times – Our clinics in Wakefield, Barnsley and Wigan & Leigh will slightly alter their opening times over Christmas & New Year. Please remember to call for an appointment.

Please visit the urgent treatment page for advice on what to do if you need to see a doctor when our clinic is closed.
