You are here: Home / Services / Sexual Health / Sexual Health Campaigns / Got Gonorrhoea?

Gonorrhoea is the second most common STI in the UK

Around half of women and 1 in 10 men with gonorrhoea won’t have any obvious symptoms

Got Gonorrhoea?

There’s only one way to find out! Visit us for an STI test in one our clinics across Wakefield, Barnsley and Wigan and Leigh.

Anyone who is sexually active can easily catch or spread this infection if they aren’t using condoms. Spectrum provide condoms for free to 16-24 year olds – so think twice before having unprotected sex!

You could have gonorrhoea and not even know it…

It’s important to know that some people get symptoms within 1-14 days and others don’t! Symptoms can take up to many months later to show any visible signs, by which point the infection could have spread to other parts of your body.

If you ‘got’ gonorrhoea from unprotected sex these are the more common things to look out for:

  • unusual discharge from the vagina/penis
  • pain when passing urine
  • lower abdomen/testicle pain or tenderness

What to do if you’ve Got Gonorrhoea

We encourage anyone who has had unprotected sex to come into clinic for free testing and treatment if needed. We offer walk-in appointments Monday to Friday or you can call to book an appointment in advance. Find your nearest clinic details here.

Gonorrhoea is treated with antibiotics, most commonly a combination of an injection and some tablets. Find out more about symptoms, testing and treatment here.
