Spectrum staff in York Drug & Alcohol Service are working with Changing Lives to establish an opiate prescribing clinic for vulnerable women.
The clinic will be provided to service users in Changing Lives’ existing women’s-only service, which provides broader support on issues such as health and wellbeing, mental health and domestic abuse.
Jenny MacNeill said, “The new clinic is a safe place for women to connect and access support without feeling isolated. As well as our prescribing clinic, other facilities are available for women – including showers, washing machines and cooking facilities so that women can relax and grab a coffee. Other agencies also provide ‘drop in’ sessions at the centre, focusing on issues such as mental health, domestic abuse and pregnancy support.”
The team are hoping to start their new clinic in the women’s centre on 19th March.
March: Hep C awareness
As well as supporting the outreach centre, our York Service is using the month of March for hepatitis outreach – offering drop-in testing, advice and referrals for Hep C and vaccination for Hep B.
