CQC rates Wigan Sexual Health ‘Good’
Sexual Health Services in Wigan and Leigh have been rated “Good” by the Care Quality Commission. After a two day inspection back in May the Inspectors found that the services are performing well and are meeting expectations.

North Yorkshire Horizons is now officially rated as “Outstanding” overall by the Care Quality Commission. The drug and alcohol recovery service, commissioned by North Yorkshire County Council, received the coveted accreditation following an inspection.

Clinical care in North Yorkshire Horizons, the specialist drug and alcohol service for the county, has been rated “Outstanding”, with outcomes that were above the national average, in a report published by the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

Service user led-Merlin project launch
The service user-led Merlin project is launched to focus on substance misuse rehabilitation and social re-integration. ‘Right to Request’ is introduced
November. The Government’s ‘Right to Request’ is introduced. This allows services in the NHS to become social enterprises. This is the scheme that eventually allows Spectrum to be launched.
Wakefiled Alcohol Treatment Requirement launches
August. The Community Safety Partnership launches the Wakefield Alcohol Treatment Requirement, a partnership between the Wakefield Alcohol Team and West Yorkshire Probation. A two year pilot, it aims to help motivate individuals to change alcohol related criminal behaviour through a combination of legal supervision and alcohol treatment.
WISMS is established
Wakefield Integrated Substance Misuse Services (WISMS) is established by Wakefield NHS Primary Care Trust. Dr. Linda Harris is its Clinical Director. Services were operated by 13 staff offering much needed treatment and advice services for people with drugs and alcohol-related problems in the local area.
