Spectrum is an organisation committed to involving all our employees in the way we run our business. A Staff Engagement Forum, Spectrum Council, is operational and consists of elected members of staff who act as the voice of the employees with links to the Chief Executive and the Board.
On appointment with Spectrum you will receive 27 days holiday, rising to 29 days after 5 years, and after 10 years’ service you will receive 33 days holiday. All entitlements are in addition to bank holidays. Entitlement is pro rata for part time staff.
Staff are also offered the opportunity to either buy or sell some annual leave if they wish. If they buy annual leave the cost of this is deducted in equal instalments for up to 12 months. For staff who sell they receive the cost of this in one lump sum at the start of the annual leave year.

Most staff will automatically be enrolled in the NHS Pension scheme upon appointment. For staff who are not eligible, e.g. are already in receipt of NHS Pension, they may be eligible to join the NEST stakeholder pension scheme. Details will be confirmed upon appointment to Spectrum.
This is included in the NHS Pension scheme and is automatically available for scheme members.

As a caring organisation, Spectrum has a range of policies that offer support to staff during maternity, paternity and adoption leave. In addition, we have a Special Leave Policy which provides support for Page 3 of 5 staff that need time off work to deal with emergency and unplanned situations e.g. caring for a dependent.
Spectrum has an agreement with Mid Yorkshire NHS Foundation Trust to provide carers and childcare support to all our employees. This could include signposting staff that have caring responsibilities to relevant support.
As part of this, staff can access our Childcare Voucher scheme. This is a salary sacrifice scheme where part of your salary can be exchanged for childcare vouchers. Vouchers are non-taxable and exempt from National Insurance contributions. The vouchers can reduce the cost of childcare by as much as £1,196 per year. The vouchers cover children up to 16 years old and can be used to pay for a wide range of childcare, including registered private nurseries, registered child-minders and out of-school schemes/holiday schemes.
South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust administer Spectrum’s lease cars on our behalf. You can apply for a lease car (3 year commitment) and have the costs taken out of your gross pay via a salary sacrifice scheme. Spectrum encourages staff to keep fit and make savings through our cycle to work scheme.
The scheme works by selecting a bike and any safety clothing or accessories, loan them from Spectrum for an agreed length of time and exchange a set amount of your salary each month during the loan period. Reductions are made to your gross salary, so you can make savings on tax and national insurance.

All staff are eligible to apply for a Blue Light Card which provides access to a wide range of discounts with retailers, travel agents and services.
Should your role require you to use the VDU you may be eligible to receive reimbursement of the cost of your eye test and a contribution towards the cost of glasses.
All staff are able to access the services of Occupational Health should they require it. This is a confidential service with a main aim of improving the working lives of our staff.
Occupational health also offers immunisations to patient-facing staff as required. In addition, all staff are offered a free flu vaccination if they wish on an annual basis (either via a flu voucher or attendance at an occupational health clinic).
Staff can request to see a counsellor, in confidence, to talk through and receive support on any work related or personal issue, including debt counselling. Staff can receive support via on-line, telephone or face to face.
A group, made up of wide range of staff and managers across Spectrum, is responsible for looking after the health and wellbeing of all our staff. All staff are encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions around health and wellbeing and health checks are offered, together with targeted support to help staff achieve improvements.

Spectrum is committed to your personal and professional development. On appointment you will be offered a personalised induction which will be tailored to your needs and that of the role you are in. Our Appraisal Process supports staff in agreeing objectives and assessing performance, coupled with identifying training or development needs for the future. Lastly you will be offered one to one meetings and clinical supervision (where relevant to the role) providing additional support in your role.
