One of Spectrum’s primary care nursing teams have won the Innovation category at the British Journal of Nursing (BJN) Awards on Friday 21st March.
Cardiovascular nurse, Michelle Bennett, led the piece of work that ultimately beat 45 other entries to win top spot.
Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is one of the main causes of preventable deaths in the UK. The work carried out by the primary care team to screen patients for hypertension, whilst working within some very strict boundaries and controls, has been innovative and shows how we can find creative ways of delivering a high quality healthcare service. The work involved finding new ways of carrying out the screening within a secure environment and then ensuring quality of care was maintained through clinics and nurse liaison.
