Congratulations are in order for Kim Hogg, Interim Head of Healthcare at HMP Low Newton, and Sue Thornley, Head of Healthcare at HMP Kirkham, who have both been shortlisted in the Nurse Manager of the Year category at the Nursing Times Workforce Awards 2021!
As a pivotal figure at Low Newton, Kim was nominated for her innovative management and work in transforming prison healthcare for women – in particular, the development of an on-site colposcopy suite for patients and the implementation of a bespoke midwifery service.
Sue was put forward for her inspiring leadership at Kirkham, establishing the first formal clinical/therapeutic substance misuse service, leading teams across two prisons to develop the service and reduce the impact of addiction. Sue also showcases prison healthcare at GP Trailblazer events and is the post-COVID lead for North West prisons.
Results will be announced at an awards ceremony taking place on 17th November 2021 – good luck to our nurse leaders!
