Amanda Smith, Recovery Service Lead
On a walk the other week, there was a young woman on the wrong side of the motorway bridge in my area. My daughter and I saw her as we approached the bridge. The poor woman was stood on the bridge for four hours before trained officers finally talked her down. Seeing her up there stayed with me, so I really wanted to do something to help. I printed off some posters of charities and suicide prevention agencies (Samaritans, PAPYRUS and Andy’s Man Club), laminated them and tied them to the bridge. I hope it may prevent someone from thinking suicide is the only answer and that they use the contact numbers on the posters to get help instead.
If my posters help just one person, then I feel I have done my bit.
