Attitudes towards alcohol
Fear of facing stigma around alcohol use can be one of the biggest factors in preventing people from accessing support.
I’m not a “heavy” drinker, so services won’t be able to help me.
Anyone who has questions about safer drinking can ask for support, even if it’s just to learn more about alcohol units, understand how alcohol affects the body or to help you cut back through the week. Spectrum’s services are shaped around your needs, so if you only have a couple of questions – that’s what we’ll help with.
Treatment services only support people who are looking to give up alcohol completely.
Spectrum’s clinical services can support patients with a wide range of queries, including people who want to reduce their alcohol intake gradually or make small changes to their drinking habits. If you feel that you need support to stop drinking, we can help – but we won’t force you to do it.
I might feel judged or blamed if I talk about my relationship with alcohol.
Our services are free, confidential and completely non-judgemental. We will listen and help you to build towards recovery, no matter what your history or current situation. We understand that alcohol can be a struggle which is not easy to overcome.
