Where could nursing take you?

2020 is the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife – a time to recognise the fantastic contribution made by nurses and midwives in delivering much-needed healthcare services across a wide range of environments.

Whether you’re newly qualified, still in training or just thinking about a change of career, there’s more to nursing than you might think. Throughout 2020, we’ll be talking about the experiences of nurses who work for Spectrum and exploring where a nursing career could take you – from community hospitals to nursing in prisons, sexual health services and more.

We’ll be sharing career profiles of our award-winning nurses as well as case studies of the patients they support – you can also get involved by Tweeting us online @SpectrumCIC and support the national campaign for #YearoftheNurse.

Achieving excellence in nursing

Spectrum has received national recognition for the achievements of our healthcare staff. In 2019, our nurses were shortlisted for:

  • Patient Safety Awards (‘Patient Safety in the community’)
  • Nursing Times Workforce Awards (‘Nurse Manager of the Year’)
  • British Journal of Nursing Awards (‘Nurse of the Year’)
  • Health Service Journal Awards (‘Acute Sector Innovation’)
  • RCNi Nurse Awards (‘Healthcare Assistant’)

In 2019, our Nurse Leader Stella was crowned “Nurse Leader of the Year” at the Nursing Times Awards. Find out more about Stella here.
