Units of alcohol

The strength and units within a drink can vary considerably. Here are some examples with approximate units.

Normal strength lager, beer, cider (3 – 4%)1 pint = 2 units
Premium strenght lager, cider (5 – 6%)1 pint = 3 units
Super strength lager (8+ %)1 pink = 4 units
White cider (7.5%)1 litre = 7.5 units
Wine (11-14%)125ml glass = 1.5 units
175ml glass = 2 units
Bottle = 8 – 10 units
Spirits (approx 37.5%)Single measure (approx 25-30ml) = 1 unit.
350ml bottle = 13 units
700ml bottle (or 70cl) = 26 units
1,000ml bottle (or 1litre) = 37.5 units
Alcopops1 bottle (330ml) = Typically 1.5 units
