What is the ALS?

Launched in June 2013, Spectrum’s small ALS service provides brief interventions, treatment advice and follow-up care to patients who have an alcohol related illness or injury and are admitted to Accident & Emergency and other wards in Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield.

ALS is an in-patient only service, and does not accept referrals from members of the public or external agencies.

For hospital patients, we offer a range of services including scheduled appointments, screening and prescribing support. Inpatients can be booked into one of eight weekly clinic sessions, and can also receive support with community detox.

The Alcohol Liaison Service aims to treat the underlying cause of alcohol-related illness and injury, and stop patients from being repeatedly admitted to A & E without accessing support for problematic drinking.
