Spectrum makes the shortlist for the Patient Safety Awards

It’s awards season for Spectrum – and we’re kicking off spring in style with three shortlisted entries for the Patient Safety Awards.

Spectrum’s Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) team has been chosen as a finalist in the Learning Disabilities category for their innovative sex education programme, which supports students to develop a better understanding of consent, healthy relationships and risk. Adapted from their traditional RSE Programme, the pilot for students with learning disabilities began in Highfield School, Wakefield before extending to Barnsley in 2016.

Spectrum teams in North Yorkshire Horizons and HMP & YOI Styal are also up for a Patient Safety Award, with initiatives designed to increase access to services and improve patient care. Styal have been nominated in the Clinical Governance and Risk Management category for some fantastic work to reduce tradeable medications in a prison environment.

The awards will be presented at the Patient Safety Congress in Manchester on 4 July. Good luck to all our nominees!
